Mike Vaccaro has been the lead sports columnist for the New York Post for six years. Previously he held newspaper jobs in Newark, N.J., Kansas City, Mo., Fayetteville, Ark., and Middletown, N.Y. His first job entailed covering the St Bonaventure men’s basketball team for the Olean Times-Herald from 1989-1991.

Vaccaro is the author of three books: “Emperors and Idiots,” a narrative history of the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry, “1941: The Greatest Year in Sports” and “The First Fall Classic,” about the Red Sox, The Giants and the cast of players, pugs and politicos who re-invented the world series in 1912.

Vaccaro has won more than 50 major journalism awards since 1989 and been cited for distinguished writing by the Associated Press Sports Editors, the New York State Pyblishers Association and the Poynter Institute. He lives in Hillsdale, N.J. with his wife, Leigh, and his Airedale terrier, Rigby.
